The heart of France
Tannay is in an enviable position as it is perched in the centre of a famous wine- producing region that spreads over chalk hills to produce wonderful dry white wine with an excellent bouquet. The town is positively packed with historical sights and places of interest.
Whilst strolling down the roads and side streets, you will discover row upon row of unique and pretty houses, many possessing exterior stairwells, enclosed within round or square towers.
The town’s school and church both have interesting features. The school provides access to a wooden walkway that leads to the church and it’s bells.
Also worth a visit is the House of Chaniones on the Rue de Beze. On the ground floor you will find a throne room with an opulent ornamental fireplace. You will also find access to the cellar, where cannons guard each rack of precious bottles.
For wine lovers, a detour to La Maison de Vigne is a must, where you will not only find the old tools used in wine making but also those for cask making.
